As many will know, we are keen advocates of Kudos loudspeakers. They have always worked well with both Linn and Naim electronics, the former being something of a surprise to us when we took on Linn Products a few short years ago. Definitely our kind of speakers.
Despite its substantial price, not inconsiderable size and, shall we say Marmite looks, the T88 Titan has been a considerable success for us.
Kudos main man Derrek Gilligan mentioned at our Audio Show East event last summer that a new Titan was in the making. It’s called T808 and pre-production examples were played in Exakt configuration with Linn electronics at the Sound and Vision Show in Bristol in February 2015. Very impressive they were too, garnering a lot of positive remarks.
For our show, which is on the r4th and 5th of September, gulp, Kudos are bringing two pairs of these behemoths. Actually, in fairness, they are not all that big … there is also a significant reduction in Marmite, with the new products having a distinctly classy and high end look to them.
The Kudos roadshow is therefore running simultaneously in two rooms.
For the Linn room, the full Exakt system is being deployed. Keeping standards high, it’s all Klimax with the emphasis on ‘max’. That’s six Klimax Solo power amplifiers, Exakt Tunebox and Klimax DSM source-cum-preamplifier. A very modern ‘six-pack’. Cabling will be by Chord company at a commensurately high level!
In the Naim Kudos room, we are using a single NAP500 power amplifier but have slipped in one of those nifty little S1 preamplifiers for good measure. The Naim NDS is in safe hands. For cables, Naim Super Lumina throughout.
Both rooms will have extremely highly specced Linn LP12s – with a teensy bit of Tiger Paw input. In fact, Roger from Tiger Paw will be in attendance too.
