Whisper it. . . We had an evening with Bob Harris at Signals HQ!
Back on the 15th January 2025 we posted an Eventbrite link to this rather unusual (and free) event. We ran out of tickets in about three hours.
The whole basis for this was that Bill at Dynaudio wanted to do something special for the Audio Show East event that was to take place in early March. Bob Harris was not available on these dates but was able to make the 28th March.
In the end, for a whole host of reasons, we decided to cancel the show and, instead, use this event as the first of a series to be held at St Cecilia’s House over spring and summer 2025. True to form, we are still putting this sequence together. Mind you, how well we and the car park could accommodate forty five visitors for this has given us information on how of how we organise things in future. Historically, we have kept visitor numbers fairly low.
The logistical key to this was having Kevin perform automotive Tetris in the car park, even keeping a record of whose cars need to go first. Our man certainly has his head screwed on! We also enabled a second fire exit from the building just in case of disaster.
The real life Bob Harris is every bit as affable and self effacing as his TV and Radio persona. We had a lovely evening with excellent music and a video of it is being edited by Dynaudio. A link to this will appear here in due course.
System used was a Vertere SG1 turntable with x-Trax cartridge running into Accuphase A-47 phono stage and Naim Statement amplification. Our trusty Dynaudio Confidence 60 loudspeakers were used, Naim SuperLumina and Vertere cabling throughout.
Huge thanks to Bill, Henrik and John at Dynaudio and to those who confirmed they would not be able to come along so that we were able to fill their seats from the back-up list. There were a lot of very happy folks.
It was great that so many made it along. A full house generates a fantastic atmosphere – and an impressive amount of heat too. We appreciate your support.
Oh and, Bob, you were utterly terrific! I might even give your country music show a listen. 🙂
