Description
GoldenEar T66 loudspeaker is the first of the new T series, one that is heavily influenced by GoldenEar’s new owners, Audioquest.
These look imposing in pictures but, their only significant physical dimension is their height, they are otherwise quite compact and distinctly room friendly. Indeed, with the unusual provision of an in-built active sub-woofer with adjustable level, they are tuneable to virtually any space.
Treble quality is incredibly good by virtue of the Air Motion Transformer ribbon tweeter and then there’s the stunning, open, midrange. Oh and the bass is tight, clean and very extended.
Do we like them?
You know, I think we do! The certainly impressed a lot of people back in April ’23 at Audio Show East (their first outing). The subsequent appearance at the Munich High End Show went especially well, we gather.
Introducing the T Series
The T66 is the first model in GoldenEar’s new T Series. While it boasts several significant refinements of our time-tested design concepts, the T66 is undeniably a GoldenEar loudspeaker, placing beautiful sound and music before all else.
Honouring the Triton Series
The T66 honours the critically acclaimed Triton Series, sharing a similarly tall, slender profile; built-in DSP-controlled subwoofer amplification; and a driver complement comprising GoldenEar’s High-Velocity Folded Ribbon AMT tweeter, cast-basket mid/bass units, quadratic planar radiators, and long-throw powered sub-bass section.
Onward and Upward
Several important cosmetic and sonic refinements distinguish the new T66 from previous GoldenEar speakers. These include a dramatically augmented crossover design, high-quality internal wiring, a new cast-aluminum base and metal grille, and, in addition to GoldenEar’s Gloss Black cabinet finish, a vibrant Santa Barbara Red.
