Naim Credo loudspeakers in beech veneer.
These Mk 1 Credos date to 1997 but the bass drivers were apparently upgraded to Mk2 later on. These were last sold by Infidelity in 2010 and the condition is remarkably good. At least it is now we’ve got all the layers of dust removed!
There is a little still a tiny bit of residual dust on one of the tweeters but leaving it there is probably less dangerous than overdoing the clean-up! Otherwise condition is remarkably good.
The Credo was replaced by the Allae in 2002.
Measurements are 875 × 240 × 270 mm (34.4 × 9.4 × 10.6 in) and they perform best positioned hard up against a solid wall. As with SL2 and Allae (and intro) the bass driver sit in a separate box isolated from the lower cabinet by small metal spaces. Unlike the old SBL, there is no gaskets or sealant involved and, unlike SL2 the spacers don’t crush over time. Result!!
Playing these ‘early days’ speakers with modern kit is a revelation. They might not resolve depth terribly well but, tonally, they are far more neutral than you might expect. Bass is clean and extended, midband clear and open.
For the money they’re worth, these are extraordinary even if they’re not especially efficient. They work well at low listening levels too, certainly on a Naim 300 system 🙂 Requiring placement close to wall is a massive benefit for some listeners, and, clearly a dis-benefit for others.
As you can see, the cartons and packaging are in excellent condition too.

Looking up manuals for these has raised an interesting anomaly. The manuals online show Intro and Credo being the same and the wiring routing through the interlinking port between the upper and lower boxes. In reality, Credo is just like the later Allae. See here and here
