Naim Hi-Line Interconnect
A very fine interconnect, available in DIN-DIN, RCA / DIN and even RCA-RCA formats.
The DIN plugs used, the Air Plugs, are a little on the frail side. Indeed the whole premise of Hi Line is that the cable hangs loose, unencumbered and that the plugs are nicely centred on the DIN sockets.
Repairing these Air Plugs is not an issue. For buyers of these cables new, Naim do not charge.
Naim HI-LINE Signal Cable
During the development of the reference CD555 CD player, a special project ran in parallel; to develop a new signal cable that would exceed the performance our standard signal cable. The task was to investigate all parameters of a signal carrier and to enhance the entire system instead of just improving the cable, which is the usual development practice. The outcome of this research project is the Hi-Line signal cable, which comes with both DIN and RCA terminations. Its patented Air-PLUG connector functions as a decoupling device that minimizes the vibration transmitted along the cable, thus preserving your system’s precious musical quality.
TECHNOLOGY & CRAFT
The Hi-Line Air-PLUG is a patented device that serves as a decoupling tool. Its primary function is to minimise microphonic interference while preserving the quality of the audio signal. The Air-PLUG comes with various rear sections that can be clipped together to form a lossy flexible section. The cable is then clamped compliantly to the end of this flexible section.
The cable was designed with great attention to detail to preserve the audio signal integrity and improve sound quality. It is made up of twisted pairs of 80 Litz conductors surrounded by PTFE, Kapton, and PTFE tape. It is then enclosed within a semi-conductive shield to reduce static charges. Two spiral-wound copper shields and lapped PTFE tape further wrap this assembly. Two of these assemblies are placed side by side and wrapped with layers of PTFE tape, finally covered with a rubber outer layer. This two-channel cable maintains the signal and RF grounds in a static position relative to each other, eliminating any difference in field between them.
