Quadratic Audio MC-1
“The Quadratic Audio MC-1 is the product of the evolution of transformer based “Head-Units” for phono stages. It takes the low level signal from Moving Coil cartridges and passively increases the level to be compatible with standard phonograph pre-amplifiers.”

With the MC-1 you can use a high end MC cartridge with an existing high quality moving magnet stage. We’ve had stunning results, for example, with Naim Supernait 3 and NSC222 streamer / preamp, both of which come with excellent moving magnet phono stages.
The designer, Jam Somasundram, has some proper audio pedigree (Pass Labs + Cary Audio). Superficially the price may seem high for a passive step-up transformer, but audio quality demands the finest components and this, we think, offers extremely high end behaviour at a comparatively modest price.
