Accuphase C-3900 preamplifier, ex-demonstration
At the very pinnacle of the Accuphase range is the C-3900 preamplifier.
This is a terrific preamp and, despite us intending to buy ‘just’ the C-2900 to supplement the C-2150 and, latterly, C-2300 for demonstration, we found it impossible to ignore.
We have had the C-3900 on permanent demonstration since it launched. The C-3900S has now been announced, it’s due in January and will be at a higher price, so it makes sense for us to sell our demo unit.
Condition is very good indeed. No faults or significant marks.
With an RRP of £29000, this is not exactly mail-order fodder. However, there may be some willing to travel to audiotion it.
Offered in (all) the original packaging with handset, manuals, a UK mains cable and the reassurance of a two year warranty. This particular unit is around three years old and it’s the second demonstration C-3900 that we’ve had.

High-accuracy, high-rigidity volume sensor construction
The volume sensor mechanism performs the task of detecting the angular position of the volume knob. Accuphase has developed the volume sensor in-house, using a massive aluminum block extruded and finished with utmost precision. The knob provides an utterly solid and smooth operation feel and achieves extremely accurate position detection. When using the Remote Commander, a motor drives the volume knob via a set of gears. Generally, gears produce a meshing sound when rotating, but this position sensor is designed so that the gears mesh with each other while always maintaining a constant pressure, which enables super quiet and comfortable volume adjustment.
